Once upon a time there was a galguero who had several dogs which he took hunting on a regular basis. One day last winter he decided that one of those dogs did not suit him anymore. The dog did not do what was expected of him. Perhaps he was not fast enough, we do not know. But the dog just had to leave, period.  At the end of the hunting season in the area where the galguero lived, the discarded dogs were collected by a large van.  This van was hired by the local government and the collected dogs were all together delivered at Scooby’s. However, the local government decided not to pay for the van anymore. We do not know why. So now the galgueros themselves have to take the dogs to Scooby’s. And if they do not do this, we all know what will happen to the dogs, don’t we?

Take for instance the galguero in our story. He told his sister, who was always taking care of the dogs in a loving and caring way,  that he was going to shoot his dog. Just as simple as that. Easier than falling off a chair. That dog does not suit me anymore so I will shoot him. Contrary to her brother, the sister did love these dogs. She finally convinced her brother that he had to take the dog to Scooby’s. It did not come easy to him because, well, the man is a hunter so he likes to shoot. But his sister kept on nagging him about the dog and finally he gave in. He granted her permission to take the dog to our shelter.

And there she came, tears in her eyes, putting this beautiful Galgo in Scooby’s care. And this was the happiest day in the Galgo’s life. Because now he will stay alive. He is such a beautiful, sweet creature. He deserves a far better life and fate than the average galguero, who brings his dogs here, does. If this dog and the many other dogs find themselves a loving home of their own, this would be a happy ending of the story. Like in the fairytale: they lived happily ever after!!!
