December 2, 2007 - the date we know as the start of our forever home for Gracie Green Bean. Gracie came to us by way of true fate and Devine Intervention. She is a Spanish Galgo. She was rescued from Sevilla and brought to Scooby Medina by Fermín and his troop of volunteers. She now resides with us in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This update is to encourage others to open their hearts and homes to these amazing four legged friends. We have a three year old. All our little Ginny K wanted was a dog to love that was her size, had her demeanor, and would be her fur friend. She is an only child. She has a heart as big as she is and she is growing daily. Our friends at VAGA trusted us and their faith that Gracie Green Bean could co-exist and would do very well with our little one.
Now let me update you. Gracie is doing amazing. She is at her weight goal, her coat glows, she smiles regularly, she leaps at the mere thought of our voices, and she nuzzles us to tell us how grateful she is. We nuzzle her to tell her how much she has enhanced our lives. She sleeps through her nail clippings, sleeps through her ear cleanings, sleeps through Ginny K and I painting her nails. She wears Ginny's slippers, she dresses up, and she is the Best in Show Winner at the "Ginny K Horse Show." She accepts hugs, loves kisses, and makes the greatest nap buddy.
She looks for me in the tub, blowing bubbles out of her nose. She sleeps outside the shower and waits, she anticipate my every move. My husband calls her Needle Nose as she peruses the counters and is always in my business. He thinks we have flown the coop now that we don't just cover our daughter each night; we cover a Galgo too, up to the chin, around the tail, not too tight around the toes. She is part human, she is our lady, she is our fur-ever pal.
We thank VAGA every single day for their efforts, their reassurance, and their commitment to placing Galgos in homes only full of love, only fit for them, only with their best interests, for obviously when you do that, the rest falls in place, the families fall head over heals as we have and regret not a second and look forward to the next smile on our Ginny K's face and circular tail wag of our Galgo, our Gracie Green Bean. We are forever grateful for Fermín and the Scooby volunteers, the VAGA group, and Debbie for finding a best fit as you promised you would. She is amazing, you know we love her so dearly. She's the other little girl I have always wanted.
