I want to talk to you about some of our latest rescues. This time I want to talk to you about an Irish greyhound left at the shelter by his owner, belonging to an ethnic minority, not used to treating their Galgos well. It’s a brown and black male, with a degenerative osteoarthritis in one hand. The tattoo is ZL-RQX, though we aren’t 100% sure because we couldn’t read it very well, but we are almost sure. Looking after his pedigree, his name is Roses Rasp, and supposedly the dog is still in Ireland. Well this is not so, for the dog is in our shelter in Medina del Campo, which proves, once more, that many Irish greyhounds end up their days hunting in the Spanish country side and not in the best hands precisely. We don’t know if he comes from the Meridiana race track, and it could be, for he is not a big dog, or has been directly imported from Ireland for right angle races here in Spain, or if not to hunt, but we found ourselves once more, with Irish greyhounds in the hands of hunters.

I will now talk to you about Lorenzo. This is a Spanish Galgo to whom they have cut his ear, the reasons why are obvious. The dog was probably tattooed and to erase traces of abandonment and avoid to trace the owner, his ear is cut. The dog was lucky to be found by a family friend of ours, and they kept him with them till the wound was healed and he recovered from his trauma. He is still pretty timid, he is very young and even after his youth’s trauma, I’m sure he will be a marvellous pet.
