It’s always the Galgos who pay the consequences that certain “people” keep on doing something as prehistoric as is the hunt. In October, here in Spain, has started the hunting season, which lasts till January, and everyday, I can assure you, a Galgo arrives in Scooby, when it’s not two or six, like today, because their owners consider that they are not useful to hunt, and they don’t want them.

We can say these are fortunate, for there are some others which end abandoned on the roads, waste grounds or, as in the case of the Pozaldez Galgo, which was thrown in an empty water basin. A farmer of this town was picking up beetroot by the riverside, saw him and got in touch with us.

The basin had no water, but was very deep, 3m high. It was impossible for this poor animal to escape from there. He had no water nor food, therefore he was very weak. The only way to get onto the bottom of the basin were some bars which feigned a staircase in a corner of the raft. I got down through them, caressed the poor Galgo who was scared to death, and then I carried him through that steps. Amet was upstairs ready to catch him and put him in the transporter. Now, Pozaldeño, that’s his name now, has become a member of the big Scooby family, which grows everyday.

We know that these stories will keep on happening during the hunting season, and when it comes to an end it will be worst. Therefore, we need again your help. Without you, our struggle would have no sense. Any kind of help is welcome. The most important thing in Scooby, is that our dogs find a family who loves them, so that they will be happy and we will have more space to be able to pick up more dogs as is the case of Pozaldeño.

Thank you very much to all of you.

See you soon.
