Dear friends,
Below you can read a message that was recently posted in our guestbook. Because it is such a good example of what the problem with Galgos is in our country, we decided to post it in our news page, too, for the ones who might not visit our guestbook or can’t understand the Spanish language. So now it is available in Spanish, English, German, French and Dutch, and you can read how a lot of people think about Galgos. And how brave people, like Pepa, do recognize the beauty and elegance in the Galgo, like the upper class people in Spain did in the ancient history. And just like you all, who adopted on of our Galgos, do these days. Dear Pepa, we don’t have you e-mail address, so if you read this, could you please send us a photo of your Olivia so that we can post it with your story? And for all the other people in Spain who adopted a Galgo for the same reason as Pepa did, please share your story with us and send it to us by e-mail, with a photo if possible.

Hi everyone, what a wonderful web site you have. What a marvellous work you do!!! Four years ago, my husband and I took a Galguita from the Valladolid local pound (dog deposit they call it...). She was ulcerated, had distemper, was bleeding from the mouth due to a serious infection in the gums, and was going blind... Our girl is called Olivia, and she’s the queen of the house. She is one of the most beautiful and good dogs I’ve ever seen in my whole life, she is our joy. We’ve felt very lonely these four years in Valladolid: due to the people’s lack of understanding, who stop us on the street (and they do so every day), and don’t understand what do we want a Galgo for, they bother us, insult us, and they’ve even threaten to kill us. All these because we have a lovely Galguita who just wants, and gives love, love in abundance. That is why, any comprehension and love sign to Galgos touches us deeply. Kind people who stop us on the streets to thank us for having a Galgo at home, for having her so healthy and lovely, associations like yours... all these people who have also dared to put a Galgo in their lives, enjoy them!! Galgos are the spirit dogs. No other race needs as much affection and attention from their owner, and we all know that all dogs live for our love. In return, a Galgo gives you more than happiness, tons of love, tenderness without judgement, and they are very attentive towards you. Your Galgo gives you heart and soul. Do whatever you want to me- he seems to say with his big, round and sad eyes. What can you do but give him your love forever. Thanks for existing Scooby friends, never give up. Each day there are more of us, who would have thought of it? A kiss, Pepa and Olivia |
