“If you have a Galgo and you would like to have a pleasant time accompanied by other alikes or you want to get further information on how you can adopt one!!! Do not hesitate, come for a stroll with us! See you on Saturday 22 September at 12 o’clock in the ‘Escalerona’ at the beach of San Lorenzo. Organized by: SOS Galgos and Scooby.”
This it is the text that could be read on the informative flyers that were distributed in Gijón. We were informed by one of our adopters living in Gijón and that he phoned us asking for further information on the event. To this question we did not know what to answer, since that call was the first notice that we had of the event.
So we decided to go to Gijón and verify by ourselves what the event was about and having in mind that at least we would have a booth where to inform people about Scooby and the sort of work we do. But it wasn’t like that. It was simply a stroll, a very pleasant one, with people who had adopted galgos from different refuges, but no one did know who had organized the event and to which aim, or simply why it appeared our name as the organisers. The organiser SOS Galgos either did not occur to know, therefore we do not know if this encounter were their idea and including us (our name) in the flyer, too.
The press was also there, to which M ªJose was speaking, the questions were focused towards some news that appeared some days before on the Asturian press. "a small dog had been dragged by its owner during two kilometres, causing wounds of extremely gravity to the animal". CHILLING TRUTH. Mª Jose answered them that it should be necessary that some of the protective associations of Asturias will organize a private accusation, since this is the only way this "personage" could be punished for what he’s done. We hope that some of the Asturian protectors confronts this situation.
This was our passage by Gijón where we left a small seed of our work through informative pamphlets that we distributed during the stroll. Our question now is: Will we collect any fruit? Or will it end in a wonderful stroll by the seaside?.
Regards to all of you,
María
