On May 27 & 28, I was invited to speak about Scooby at the fundraising event for a local Greyhound Rescue in Hamilton, Ontario called GLOHW (Greyhound Lovers of Hamilton Wentworth). www.glohw.com
It was a great opportunity to inform people about the problems in Spain with the galgos as many people didn't even know that this problem existed. There was great interest and support, which we were really pleased about. Ella our galgo, was welcomed with many rubs and hugs too!
Even more overwhelming was the amount of donations that we received. It was announced prior to the event that Scooby would be there, so GLOHW asked that people donate their old coats, collars and leashes. The donations that were collected were amazing.
In total Scooby received: 13 coats 19 leashes (2 of them extend-a-leashes) 19 collars 7 collar/leash sets 3 bandanas 1 set of booties 1 zoom groom brush
But the generosity didn't stop there. GLOHW donated $500 in brand new Lupine collars and leashes that were shipped directly to Scooby the very next week.
I was very happy to be invited to this event. I know it's not easy to hear about the cruelties that these animals endure at the hand of humans... but I thank GLOHW and all those who supported Scooby... because we must remember that we are merely looking at these cruelties and the galgos are living them. The more people that know, the more we can do to help these wonderful animals.
Thank you to GLOHW for your generosity and kindness. The Scooby team and dogs greatly appreciate it.
