A year ago we adopted a female Galga from Scooby.  Now we decided to give another Scooby dog a chance to enjoy a happy life. At the first time we were sure to adopt a female dog, now we were thinking a long time about adopting a male dog. On the one hand it is said that daily life with male and female dogs is easy going. On the other hand we had the usual reserve against adopting a male dog. Like they are extremely big, are marking and peeing everywhere, keep bad company, show more aggressive behaviour therefore having always problems with other male dogs. And at least girls are much more smooch than boys, isn't it so? Knowing that the chances for male dogs to find a new home are very low, we decided to adopt a male dog.

Our experiences after one month: How you can be fooled!

Our dog is a strong personality therefor our boy could be also one of the timid dogs. We started our search looking website after website. Finally we found Billy, a 4 years old timid boy, waiting at Scooby for his family. He was looking very sweet, sitting anxiously at his place. We contacted Greyhound Protection International (Germany) to get to know about the way of adopting Billy. The contact was very good and there was no problem to get the dog to Germany.

Billy spent a few days at a foster home than the little boy came to us. Our new family member was accepted soon by everyone. As we thought Billy was always looking what his „big sister“ is doing. On the first evening both were lying in one bed! Billy is a bid larger and a bid wider as our girl. But no way of being extremely big.

The following days were very exiting for Billy. He was very shy as mentioned before. Seeing unknown persons on our walks he made big forgoes around them. He was sniffling with cautious to unknown dogs. Soon after his arrival Billy was searching contact to us and was enjoying the hugs.  Our Galga loves getting hugged while lying on her back but she is not looking for contacts very often. Billy was completely different. He came to us, lying his head in our folds so that we could huge him. He is very affectionate and always looking that we don't get lost in our apartment. Outside the house he is loosing his shyness from day to day and he is walking well on the lead. The daily life with Billy is very easy. No problem with cleaning the paws and ears. To take a shower, was another thing!

Billy is uncomplicated while meeting other dogs, especially with male dogs are no problems. We think it will take a while until he starts with marking places. We will show him the good places. As all dogs coming from Scooby he is neutered so we think that there will be no problems at all. In the meantime Billy adores if he is getting hugs from friends and starts to enjoy his new place of living. He is very careful with our Galga while lying together with her on the couch. Only the great „Hello“ in the morning is different. It is wild and Billy starts to be the first one saying hello. Our reservations from the beginning have been completely destroyed by Billy. We want to say:

He is a boy and that is perfect!
